하는 극이다. 기도하는 마음으로 정성을 드려 공연을 하면 많은 은혜가
된다.
- 이 극은 어린이 용으로 적합하며, 전통적인 극이지만 재미가 있어서, 중고등부,
청년부에 게도 재미를 주는 작품이다.

케냐 말티사 타운의 한 교회. 햇볕이 잘 드는 환경 가운데 검은 천으로 가려진 인형극 무대
가 있다. 해설자 인형 하나가 무대 한 가운데에 놓여있다.
A Chruch in Maltisa town of Kenya. In a sunny environment, there is a puppet theater stage
covered with black cloth. A narrator doll is placed in the middle of the stage.
슈카를 몸에 두른 해설자 연기자 등장
Narrator wears Shuka enters
연기자는 해설자 룰루 인형을 손에 끼운 뒤 ‘후-‘하고 인형에게 생기를 불어넣는다.
룰루가 살아난다.
The actor puts the narrator Lulu doll in his hand and says ‘hu-’ to bring the doll to life.
Lulu comes back to life.
Lulu: (Lulu awaken) WAU! (Greeting to children) Hamjambo! Habari za asubuhi!
해설자: (룰루가 살아나며) 와우! (아이들에게 인사) 안녕! 좋은 아침이야!
Lulu: “Jina langu ni Lulu. Jina lako ni nani?”
해설자: 나는 룰루야. 너는 이름이 뭐야?

인사를 할 때는 연기자가 최대한 아이들과 눈을 마주치며 한다.
해설자가 3명의 아이들과 인사를 나누고, “Asante“가 3번째 나올 때 부자가 에헴! 한다.

제 1 막 (Act 1)
배경: 부자의 집 (Setting: The house of rich man)
막이 시작되면 해설자를 연기하는 사람은 룰루 인형과 함께 무대 오른편에 위치한다. 작은
책상이 놓여있어 막대 소품들이 올려져 있고, 해설자는 소품 진행을 돕는다. 또한 룰루와 함
께 극을 지켜보기도 하며 안타까운 감정, 기쁜 감정 등 다양한 반응을 한다.
When the act begins, the person playing the narrator is positioned on the right side of the
stage along with the Lulu doll. There is a small desk with stick props on it, and helps with the
props. She also watches the play with Lulu and reacts in various ways, including sad and happy
emotions.

Rich man: Ahem! What a hot weather.
부자: 에헴! 날씨 한번 쪄죽겠군.

Esther: (Rushing in) Master, are you hungry?
에스테르: (쪼르르 등장하며) 부자 주인님, 배고프십니까?

부자는 나사로를 때리기 시작한다.

나사로: 갈게요! 가긴 가겠는데요! 저-기- 보이는 교회를 한 번 나가 보세요. 부자 양반, 예
수님 믿으세요!
Rich man: What?! Believe in Jesus? You fool! Believe in my fist instead!!! (Starts beating him)
부자: 뭐?! 예수를 믿어? 야 이놈아! 예수를 믿느니 내 주먹을 믿어라!!! (마구 때린다)

부자가 나사로를 때리기 시작하면 개가 동시에 날뛰며 난장판이 된다.
As the rich man begins hitting Lazarus, the dog starts going wild, creating chaos.
Lazarus: Stop now! Rich man, just believe in Jesus once! Then you can live happily forever in
heaven someday!
나사로: 이제 그만! 부자 양반, 한번 예수님을 믿어보세요! 그러면 나중에 천국에서 영원히

행복하게 살 수 있어요!
부자, 어이가 없어 하던 행동을 잠시 멈춘다.
개가 하늘을 본다. 부자, 개를 보더니 자기도 모르게 하늘을 쳐다본다.
나사로, 같이 하늘을 쳐다본다.
잠시 정적
The rich man, shocked, pauses for a moment.
The dog looks up at the sky. The rich man notices the dog and also looks up,
unintentionally. Lazarus joins them in gazing at the sky.
A moment of silence.
Rich man: (Breaking the silence) You fool! I won’t die, no matter what! If I get sick, I’ll just
buy medicine and get better! (Chasing the dog) You, get out too!
부자: (정적을 깨며) 나쁜 녀석! 임마, 난 이래봬도 나중에 죽지도 않아! 아플 때 약 사먹으면
금방 나으니까! (개를 쫓아내며) 너도 저리 가!

개, 잠시 물러나는가 싶더니 무대에 그대로 남아 있는다.
The dog retreats momentarily but stays on stage.

나사로: 아, 아이구, 으흐흑… 아이구, 아이구… 하나님……
개가 나사로 곁으로 가까이 간다. 위로하듯이 나사로와 함께 있는다.
The dog approaches Lazarus and stays with him, as if comforting him.
Lazarus: My body is already sick… I can’t endure the pain anymore…
나사로: 안 그래도 아픈 몸인데… 아파서 견딜 수가 없는데…
장면 멈춤 The scene freezes
해설자 등장 Lulu enters
Lulu: Ah! Lazarus, sick and starving, collapses. He prays to Jesus.
해설자: 아! 아프고 굶주린 나사로는 쓰러지고 말았어요. 나사로는 예수님께 기도를 합니다.
장면 다시 시작 The scene resumes
Lazarus: God, why is my body so sick? Why am I so poor? But since I believe in Jesus, I will
always live joyfully. I’ve heard there’s a beautiful heaven where Jesus is. Jesus, please take my

Lulu: Beggar Lazarus lowered his head onto the hot ground and never lifted it again.
해설자: 거지 나사로는 뜨거운 땅바닥에 고개를 푹 수그린 채 다시는 고개를 들지 못했어요.

He feels his healed body and enjoys the joy of heaven.
Lulu: Aha! Over there, Lazarus is coming from heaven. All of Lazarus' pain is gone!
해설자: 아하! 저기 천국에서 나사로가 나오고 있어요. 나사로의 아픔은 모두 사라졌어요!
아브라함 등장 Abraham appears
Lazarus: Where am I? Oh!
나사로: 여기가 어디지? 오!
Abraham: This is heaven. Lazarus, welcome!

Lulu: The lonely cry of an eagle. Death is the universal truth for everyone. It is nature’s law

해설자: 쓸쓸한 독수리 울음소리. 죽음은 누구에게나 공평한 진리. 세상의 아무 것도 가져갈
수 없는 자연의 섭리.

해설자, 죽어 있는 부자 주변을 천천히 한 바퀴 돈다. 다시 객석을 보며,
Lulu slowly walks around the dead rich man. And see the audience again,

처럼 세상을 떠나고 말았어요. 저승길로 떠난 부자는 과연 어디로 가고 있을까요?

부자: 아브라함이여, 나사로를 보내서, 내 형제들에게 예수님을 믿도록 좀 말해 주십시오. 나
처럼 이런 고통받는 곳에 오지 않게 해주세요. 흑흑…
Abraham: There are servants of the Lord in the world—pastors, evangelists, and missionaries,
as well as churches. People can hear God’s word through His servants and believe.
아브라함: 세상에는 주님의 일을 하는 종이 있다. 목사와 전도사 그리고 선교사가 있고 교회
가 있다. 사람들은 주의 종에게 주님의 말씀을 듣고, 믿으면 된다.

나사로, 아브라함과 함께 등장한다. 나사로, 지쳐 쓰러져 있는 부자의 손을 잡아 일으켜준
다. 아브라함이 지켜보고 있다. 부자, 나사로의 품에서 울며 회개한다. 나사로가 안아준
다. 아브라함이 다가와 함께 안는다. 개 등장한다. 함께 나사로를 안아준다. 에스테르
등장한다. 함께 나사로를 안아준다. 사탄 등장한다. 서로서로 안고 있는 모습을 지켜보더
니 흥! 하고 뒤돌아 퇴장한다. 다시 사탄 등장한다. 함께 나사로를 안아준다. 예수님 등장한
다. 모두를 감싸 안아준다. 해설자, 극 밖에서 이 모든 모습을 지켜보며 기쁨의 박수를
친다.
The rich man is lying down from exhaustion.
Appears with Lazarus and Abraham. Lazarus takes the hand of the rich man who is falling down
from exhaustion and helps him up. Abraham is watching. The rich man cries and repents in the
arms of Lazarus. Lazarus hugs him. Abraham comes over and hugs them together. A dog appears.
Together we hug Lazarus. Ester appears. Together we hug Lazarus. Satan appears. I watched them
hugging each other and was like, “Hmph!” Then turn around and leave. Satan appears again.
Together we hug Lazarus. Jesus appears. Hugs everyone. The narrator watches all of this from
outside the play and claps with joy.
